I enjoy coding. While I’m writing code, I’m focused and peaceful. I meet a lot female software engineers in the working places. I summarize five reasons that girls learn to code.
#1. Parents influence on what to study: If you have opportunity to go to any tech companies and Look at the areas of software development, you will see a lot Asian female faces. How girls become software engineer? Because they have strict parents.
#2. To find a smart boyfriend: When you start to learn programming, you will have a lot of opportunities to meet and work with smart boys. They will probably be millionaire someday. Since they are nerds, the odds are they are loyal to you.
#3. To get a good pay job: Among all the occupations, software engineer is one of the most in-demand jobs nowadays . It is also one of the highest paid engineering job.
#4. You don’t need to be good at math: It is a myth that if you are not good at math, you probably shouldn’t study science or engineering. It is not necessary true for software programming or software engineering, because most difficult parts have been figured out by computer scientists. You can just use existing build blocks to build applications.
#5. Girls want to explore different things: Girls have brains. They can explore what they want, artist, accountant, lawyer, doctors etc. They will eventually find out whether Software programming or coding can keep them interested.
